On 11 May 2026, the VCP, CNV and FNV an ultimatum letter sent to the Prime Minister and the Ministers for Social Affairs and Employment and for Work and Participation. As a member of the VCP, VHP2 wholeheartedly endorses this ultimatum.
This letter sets out the following two demands on the government:
- Scrap the plans set out in the coalition agreement to cut back on unemployment benefit (WW) and disability benefit (WIA) and to reduce the maximum daily wage.
- Scrap the plans to bring forward the state pension age.
The deadline for a response was 25 May 2026. The government has not responded to the proposal, or at least not to the unions’ satisfaction. The way is therefore clear for industrial action. The VCP, FNV and CNV have announced the first strikes, and we at VHP2 support these strikes.
Our members have, so far, indicated that they are open to industrial action. Our rank-and-file members have made it clear that taking part in strikes is not yet on the agenda. We will continue to liaise with the VHP2 executive committee on this matter and, should our members call for it, we will adjust our position accordingly. Consequently, VHP2 has not issued any strike calls; participation in the announced strikes can therefore only take place in members’ own time.
If, as a member of VHP2, you wish to go on strike, please send a message to info@vhp2.nl
Together with our negotiators and board members, we will set out the options. Please register at least 10 working days before the proposed strike date on which you would like to take part.
Sincerely,
On behalf of the board and the VHP2 negotiators,
Perry van Liempt
Director of VHP2
