The Labour Foundation, to which the VCP, and hence VHP2, belongs as an employees' organisation, thinks it is wise that the Lower House has rejected the amendment for individual right of objection when converting pensions to the new system.
A narrow majority voted on 20 May against the amendment, which had previously been widely criticised by social partners, the Council of State, pension administrators and the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment. Now that the amendment is off the table, the transition to the new pension system can go ahead without further delay. This benefits (former) employees and pensioners alike.
Communication and guidance
The debate in recent months shows that there are still many questions about the transition to the new system. It is therefore important that employers, employees and pensioners remain well informed and involved in this process. Social partners are also fully committed to this.
Future Pensions Act
The Labour Foundation expresses its appreciation for Minister Van Hijum's commitment to stick to the Future Pensions Act (Wtp) and quality legislation. Social partners and pension administrators will continue with full energy to implement this law (adopted by a large majority), which ensures a new solid pension system.
