Call for Speed and Care at UWV Corrections to WIA benefits
In recent days, there has been much attention on errors in the calculation of WIA benefits by the UWV. In the period between 2020 and 2024, tens of thousands of benefits were incorrectly determined, resulting in people receiving too much or too little benefit. The UWV has announced action to correct these errors, but this brings a lot of uncertainty for those affected.
VCP and VHP2: Speed and Clarity Needed
The VCP, to which VHP2 belongs, stresses that it is crucial that the recovery phase is quick and careful. Benefit recipients who are already in a vulnerable position should not bear the brunt of mistakes made by the UWV. As VCP chairman Nic van Holstein states, "When the fault lies with the UWV, there should be no recovery of overpaid benefits." For those who have received too little, there should be a back payment as soon as possible.
VHP2 Supports This Call
VHP2 fully supports the appeals of the VCP. It is of great importance that clarity comes quickly for all benefit recipients, without them getting into financial trouble because of mistakes by the UWV. We will continue to follow developments closely and will stand firm for the interests of our members.
People who suspect that their WIA benefit has been calculated incorrectly can contact the UWV on 088 - 898 92 94. The UWV has promised to conduct a careful investigation and correct benefits where necessary.
