Together with FNV and the Union, the VHP2 reached an agreement with Eindhoven-based high-tech company Kulicke & Soffa (formerly Philips Assembléon) on a social plan.
Kulicke & Soffa (K&S) already decided last year to move production of electronics assembly machines from Eindhoven to Singapore; some 60 jobs were lost in the process. Now its new machine development activities are also going to stop, meaning 105 employees will be made redundant. The reorganisation prompted the VHP2 and the other unions to agree on a social plan at K&S. After intensive negotiations, it was reached that employees who are made redundant will receive substantially higher severance pay than the legal basis and that the costs of outplacement, training & legal assistance will also be reimbursed to a considerable extent.
