On March 23, the VHP2 and the other unions had another consultation with ASML.

As is well known, it remains the commitment of the VHP2 that ASML does not make employees compulsorily redundant. We have therefore discussed probing with ASML whether the company sees room for redeployment of employees in positions currently filled by external staff. Indeed, ASML employs many people who are not permanent employees, but carry out work through various constructions that could potentially also be performed by in-house staff.

The outcome of the consultation is that ASML sees opportunities to reduce the number of redundancies by about 100. The VHP2 finds it surprising that ASML did not include this in its plans earlier. This is reason for the unions to pay even more attention to this and keep up the pressure on ASML to investigate whether further layoffs can be avoided.

Social plan negotiations will continue on 7 April.
