On 16 March, the unions and ASML renegotiated a social plan.
The VHP2 and the other unions again made it clear: No compulsory redundancies at ASML! We again explained this in detail. ASML has agreed to return to this in substance during the next round of negotiations on 23 March.
Because we have the impression that our message is not yet getting through sufficiently to ASML, the unions are currently discussing joint action, possibly again in the form of a walk-out. To increase the pressure on ASML, VHP2 will also participate.
In the unlikely event of redundancies, following the advice of the works council, ASML has proposed a social plan. The proposal can be found at here to (only in Dutch for now).
In an initial response, we expressed our disappointment at the level of the proposals. While they contain some positive elements, such as a repatriation package and student debt forgiveness, a number of key points have not yet been sufficiently developed. For example:
- There is no arrangement for voluntary departure
- There is no waiver of the non-compete clause
- The proposed severance pay (2 × the transitional allowance) is too low
The VHP2 will discuss these proposals with its members on 3 April next.
