From 1 January 2025, a new corporate committee will be installed at the Social and Economic Council (SER) to replace the current Market I and Market II committees. This change concerns support for works councils (OR) and employee representatives (PVT) on issues of employee participation. The new business committee is open to both commercial companies and non-profit organisations.
For our members, professionals in the high-tech and electrotechnical industry, this change means that they can still use mediation by the Industrial Commission in disputes between a Works Council or PVT and the director. However, this process will not change substantially: the working method will remain largely the same. The main difference is that from 2025, all sectors, regardless of whether they are commercial or non-profit, will be able to go to the same commission.
As a result, works councils will only have to amend their regulations by referring to the new general works council instead of Market I or Market II after 1 January 2025. This simplifies and modernises the structure. The contact details of the business committee remain unchanged, so access to support and mediation remains simple and accessible for our members.
It is important to note that this change does not affect the Corporate Government Commission, which will continue to exist and is housed at CAOP in The Hague.
The introduction of this new general corporate committee is a positive step towards greater efficiency and clarity in the mediation process around employee participation, which is important for the professionals we represent. We will continue to monitor these developments closely to ensure that our members receive the best possible support on employee participation issues.
